# Landowning

Owning a Land allows a player to extract raw resources, which are the primary building blocks for all equipment creation in the game. In addition to game content, Land ownership opens the door to participating in all Kingdom App platform features and benefits.

## :point\_right: Key Points

* Lands come in four different sizes;  Small, Medium and Large which affect the size of the game field. Size can be expanded with the special [item: Expansion](https://guidebook.cardanolands.com/collections/items/expansions).&#x20;
* Lands bordering water on [the Valley Map](https://guidebook.cardanolands.com/features/the-valley) are considered ports and may have additional buildings for the construction of ships and other materials.
* Some of the Lands may contain unique traits that allow their owners to mine [$HEXO](https://guidebook.cardanolands.com/tokenomics/hexonium-or-usdhexo) (this can be determined by the HEXO tile shown in the Land Image).

## :island: Biomes

There are currently 2 biome types: &#x20;

:evergreen\_tree: **Forest** Lands initially have more Wood resources and a bonus for its extraction.

:snowflake: **Winter** Lands have more Stone resources with the same bonus for its extraction.&#x20;

Players can gather initial resources by clearing the area for future buildings.&#x20;

## :school: Buildings

By deploying special buildings and assigning workers, players can extract five types of resources: Ores, Wood, Stone, Leather, and Fiber. Some buildings have special functions that can influence and interact with both the game economy and the overall project economy.

### Resource-extraction buildings

**Mines**: Extract Ore from underground. Workers must have the miner profession and pickaxes to complete their duties.

**Lumber Camp**: Cut Wood from tiles that contain wood resources. Workers must have the lumberjack profession and wood axes to complete their duties.

**Stonecutter Camp**: Extract Stone from tiles that contain stone resources. Workers must have the stonebreaker profession and stone hammers to complete their duties.

**Hunter’s Hut**: Enables hunting and leather production. Workers must have the tanner profession and skinning knives to complete their duties.

**Weaver's Hut**: Enables plant gathering and fiber production. Workers must have the harvester profession and sickles to complete their duties.

The limitation of resource-extraction buildings is determined by the presence of specific resource tiles on the Land itself:

* If the Land NFT has 2 forest-type tiles, the player can build 2 Lumber Camps.
* If the Land NFT does not have a tile with a specific resource, then the corresponding building cannot be constructed.
